Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all twenty-nine from April in one place — tap any of them to play it right here. After months indoors because of bird flu, this was the month the chickens finally started heading back outside.
Back outside
Brownie and Tsuyoshi got a head start on outdoor life, a step ahead of everyone else. Later in the month the young hens, in their beautiful feathers, came out of their crates — and the older ladies went straight back to their favorite spot. We also welcomed three Silkie-mix sisters to Paradise, and the roses bloomed: plants and chickens make the best team.

Hens with attitude
Brooding season brought out the fire in our hens: Gudetama got furious, Mitarashi looked like a bird of prey, and three grumpy hens left me wondering why they were sitting where they were. Some days the nest box is perfectly quiet, though, and Pachita is as gentle and friendly as ever. Ann rules like a queen (yes, there are girls like that among chickens too), I filmed one beautiful camera-shy hen quietly so as not to scare her off, and one day the hens were in an uproar over something they’d found.

The rooster corner
Kewpie vanished from the farm — and then came home again. We held a little matchmaking party to see whether the roosters could win over the older ladies. Dyson crowed right up at the sky, cool Rex has earned everyone’s trust, and cute Mochi is always by my side.

Cats, cats, cats
Chai is a playful cat, but really a handsome guy, and break time often ends with me covered in cats — cute, but a little warm. Genki, Natsu and Hanabi’s little sister, is a big sweetheart, and a cute orphan kitten joined us. Evenings belong to the cats, Captain Natsu was in a great mood, and two sibling cats in stylish colors are still close now that they’re grown. Even cats fall out of trees sometimes — please stop, you’ll tear the net!

Ducks, a pigeon and a goodbye
One clip this month was a sad one: missing someone, and wondering why every meeting has to come with a farewell. No surprise, our pigeon still loves pigeons best, and I found the one thing the ducks like even more than a feast.
Thanks for following along with life at Chicken Paradise. New clips go up every few days on our YouTube channel.
