Farm Notes — May 2026: Beautiful Hens, Young Boys Umi and Nagi, and a Farm Full of Cats

Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all thirteen from May in one place — tap any of them to play it right here.

Beautiful hens

Seven-year-old hens and one-year-old hens alike lay the best eggs for us. Namiko and Tsuki are beautiful, much-loved hens, and our Spanish chicken is a cheerful beauty. The ladies have big appetites and are always hunting for something delicious — and chickens are colorful and beautiful, growing even lovelier with age.

The rooster corner

Charles is an easygoing, quirky rooster. Yamabuki is surrounded by beautiful hens, while Fifi the goose is just here for the food. Young boys Umi and Nagi have that well-known beauty as their mom, and one rooster proves that looks can be deceiving: he’s actually quite timid.

Peaceful days and farm cats

It’s a peaceful moment on a peaceful farm — maybe a little too relaxed. We have lots of farm cats, and they all know their own names. Genes are fascinating — life really does carry on — and chickens are health-conscious too: a sand bath refreshes body and mind.
