Farm Notes — September 2026: Gentlemen Roosters, Busy Moms and a Happy Goose

Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all fifteen from September in one place — tap any of them to play it right here.

The rooster corner

Watching young roosters grow up is one surprise after another. A little rascal turned into a proper gentleman, Takeru has been working hard lately (diligent roosters are popular with the hens!), and brothers Umi and Nagi have grown up a little differently — did their childhoods make the difference?

Chicks and their moms

Donut Jr.’s chicks are all growing up healthy. Like kids everywhere, they’re sure someone else’s food tastes better. Little by little the chicks grow and head off on their own — the bond between mother hens and their babies is lovely to watch. And Kuromame, always putting herself last, is doing her very best.

Peaceful days in Paradise

Chickens are loving, wonderful creatures. Three white hens of different breeds have become best friends, and most days end the same way: everyone safe, and a sunset to say thank you to.

Cats and a goose

Here, even the cats hold back for the chickens. Yuki, one of our rescue cats, loves us but still puts his claws out — someday we hope to pet him. And Fifi the goose finished the month in a very good mood.
