Good morning from Chicken Paradise Hawaii — a little bit of blue sky today.
For some reason, Taro has wandered into the little trail that Dolly uses for her walks. Maybe there was something tasty in there? Taro, what are you doing? You’re always up to something strange, but what is it today? Shiny, glossy Taro, what are you up to? The other end of the trail is the tunnel exit. Well, he looks like he’s having fun, so I’ll leave him to it.
Marron’s color change, part 1
This time it’s a solo shoot with Marron. And yes, Marron is definitely a rooster — his comb has very clearly come in.
His chick feathers have almost all been replaced by new ones. Only the head is left, so right now his head has a funny patchy pattern. If you look closely, bits of the old chick fluff are still stuck to the tips of the new feathers. When you pinch them off, only the new feather underneath is left, so it looks as if his head has changed color.
I haven’t done this for him in a while, so he’s very fluffy. Sorry, sorry! Wow, lots of fluff came off. He’s as friendly as ever — and a rooster, all right. What are you going to do, buddy? That was part 1 of Marron’s color change.
The duck from the sky gets a name
Remember the duck we found? In the end, no owner ever turned up, and several weeks have already passed. So we decided the duck would live with us, and we happily welcomed our new family member.
I wanted to keep a herb theme for the names, so the name is Chive. (Chive doesn’t look pleased at all.) Surprisingly, Chive gets along well with Mint, and surprisingly well with Basil too, so I think this is going to work out just fine.
It must be fate. I mean, why did a duck fall out of the sky? That was Chive, our newest family member.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise! See you in the next episode.
