Pumpkins vs. the Heat — and a Summer Garden Update

Watch the episode (in Japanese)

Good morning! Dolly is with me today. This spot has a whole new look now. Let’s go!

Morning opening

Whoa, look out! Huh? Yukinko, you’re late. Then she bumped into someone and froze. Everyone came out today.

Next, the chicks — they look like they’re doing well. The chickens are wary of Mint, the duck. The ducklings have already settled in and aren’t afraid, though they still aren’t used to people.

A new face in the garden

This chick is making a first appearance in the garden. It came from the wild and doesn’t have a name. It’s growing slowly, so I’m a little worried.

Summer garden

The petunias and marigolds are in full bloom, and so are the periwinkles. The weather has been good, so the cucumbers are doing well. The papayas are now about 40 cm (16 inches) tall, and the Okinawan sweet potatoes have more leaves and look healthy. I planted mini bell peppers.

The blueberries are setting fruit, but the berries don’t change color. They’re putting out new shoots, too — so why? The broccoli looks like it will give us seeds; if I can, I’d like to plant it again.

Someone was drinking water from outside the pen. With weather this nice, everyone needs water.

Shocking footage

Some green objects, laid out at random… and then a video of someone cracking them with a pickaxe! The picture is very surreal — but that’s just a joke. We were given some pumpkins, so I gave them to the chickens. The footage came out so surreal that the editing ended up like this. It’s getting hot these days — did that cool you down a little? (Still, were there no other tools?)

Anyway, the pumpkins were a hit, and everyone ate them together. Roosters eating side by side is a sight you only get at Chicken Paradise.

Thanks for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii! Look forward to the next video.
