Good morning! A nice, slow start to the day.
A morning walk
Bee and Nugget usually don’t come outside, but this morning they did. And dancing around behind them… what’s wrong with you, Hare-chan? You want to go for a walk too? It’s chaos whenever you come out. Well, go ahead!
Hare-chan’s beak injury has healed. That’s good! The bite is still a little bit off, though.
Over here, chickens just like in a textbook: “They eat grass.” This friendly team was all gathered in the roosters’ nest box, as if the grass is greener on the other side.
Good morning, Gri-chan. A sand bath first thing in the morning? Are you the morning-shampoo type? (A sand bath is how chickens clean their feathers and keep pests away.) Everyone is sand-bathing here — it must be a popular spot. And Chive, you look so white and beautiful!
Meet Cinnamon
“Hello, everybody. I’m Cinnamon. I have no eye on this side, and my wings are always ragged. People say, ‘Oh, poor thing,’ but actually I’ve been like this from the start. My feathers are naturally fragile, so no matter how many times they grow back, they soon fall to pieces. Please don’t mind me!”
See, you can only touch Cinnamon from this side. Come from the other side and she gets really scared. Right now her feathers look even more ragged than usual. Are you okay?
Cinnamon and Peanut side by side make a funny pair — the sizes don’t match at all. She’s missing an eye, but she’s strong.
Mr. Lettuce and Mr. Banana
The chickens eat a lot, so I grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables as snacks for them. Strawberries grow around here, and these folks are Mr. Lettuce. But the flock eats so much that this isn’t nearly enough. Let’s do our best!
And of course, here is the one we’ve been raising very, very carefully: Mr. Banana. When I got it, it was a small plant about 60 centimeters tall. Now it’s much taller than I am — a huge, huge banana.
Our chickens are speed-eating masters who can finish a banana in an astonishing 23 seconds, so I know how much they love bananas. I hope this plant keeps growing big.
And this time, for some reason, a baby has come out! Bananas are actually a kind of grass, and they send out lots of little shoots from the side. The main plant isn’t even grown up yet, so I don’t know why this happened — but it certainly means it’s healthy.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise! See you in the next episode.
