Thank you for 2022! To close out the year, I put together a digest of the outtakes, the scenes that never made it into the videos. There isn’t much of a story here, just a lot of laughing.
Intros that fell apart
Plenty of takes started with “Good morning, Chicken Para—” and went no further. In one I was explaining that Heart is the leader of the front room and of all the chickens in the coop, and the sentence tangled itself up halfway. I began introducing Salaryman (“I’ll tell you why he has that name…”) and didn’t get far. I announced I’d go share some papaya with Bee, our little foodie who’s a bit on the weak side — and had to start again, laughing.
Today’s Chicken Corner had its share of retakes too. “Today I’d like to introduce… um… uh…” Once, mosquitoes swarmed in mid-introduction. Once, I completely forgot the breed. Once, I said “Cheese-kun looks happy” — and it wasn’t Cheese! And once, the shot turned out to be sideways.
The animals had other plans
A quail decided to sit on an egg in the middle of a take. Dolly got grass to her heart’s content — “That’s all for today’s Dolly!” When our calendar arrived, even that got an outtake (“Look at this glossy cover!”). There were plenty of “Ouch!” moments, and more than one take ended with me shouting, “Wait, I’m not done yet!”
Making these videos is never quite as smooth as it looks, but that’s half the fun. Thank you for watching, laughing and cheering us on all year.
See you in the next episode of Chicken Paradise Hawaii!
