Good morning! Here’s Gin-chan. Outside, everyone is drinking water at a great pace. Were you thirsty? The friendly team gathers around me (my theory: they think food from my hand is better). The Egg-chan team, Brownie’s entourage, all look alike, which is funny. The ducks took over the water, and nobody is strong enough to compete.
Inazuma
This is Inazuma. I’ve told you before about a house that keeps lots of silkies, a fluffy breed of chicken. There, silkies bred with each other and with wild chickens, and lots of chicks were born. In the end, through the feed store, we took in some of them, and this is one. He has grown this big (fold your wings for a second!) and is starting to look like a proper rooster.
Sammy and Calvin
Over here are Sammy and Calvin, who came to us as a pair. They’re apparently a cross between a silkie and an American cochin, the kind with fluffy feet and a round, puffy tail. They’re no relation to Inazuma, yet don’t they look alike? Look at the color and pattern on the back. This one is shy and went quiet.
Honestly, I can’t tell which is Sammy and which is Calvin; I’ll have to check my message history again. After quarantine I let them out into the coop, but they’re an unusual breed and weak fighters, so they run around all the time. It’s okay. Walk a bit slower and everyone will pretend not to see you. The silkie blood shows strongly in one and weakly in the other.
Our Grey is the same kind of cochin, only small. These two are a mix of the big version and a silkie, and the shape and roundness of their tails look like Grey’s. They can share a room, but outside they each do their own thing.
Last year’s chicks, all grown up
Othello Black has gotten whiter than before. Othello White looks similar, with a smaller comb. Dal is very big, about the same size as Sonata. Tsuyoshi is a bit of a scaredy-cat. Peach is a little rowdy and causes trouble. Kini was picked up by a local auntie, who named him. Pepper is a member of the first Chick Open Team. Poppy is a wild chicken close to the original wild type, and Rex is Poppy’s brother. Waikiki is a totally different color now.
Banana practices his cock-a-doodle-doo when nobody is around. Knight was sickly and only recently went outside at last. Cloud, I miss the days you played in the vegetable garden. And Marron is a little small, but he has grown into a fine rooster.
Thanks for watching Chicken Paradise. See you next time!
