Spring brings out the bugs! Hello. I still have a cold, and today it’s me and the neighbor’s sheep.
The plan
With the owner’s permission, the plan is to put collars on all three sheep, hook a tether onto anyone I can lead out, and ask them to mow the grass where we park our cars. This is actually very hard work. First, just touching them: they’re the type to come at you. And they’re big.
I’ll start with the girls. Come here. No, chewing the bucket won’t help. Look, tasty corn over here! Is this going to turn into a rodeo? In the picture in my head, sheep are soft and fluffy… Meanwhile a cat is crying nearby. It’s Ao. What are you doing here, Ao?
Ichigo gets a collar
First, a demonstration on your neck, Ichigo. Hmm? You don’t like it. Of course not. Please don’t chew it. Please hand over the bucket. Thank you. Let’s get creative. OK, OK! I’m a genius. But there’s another one… (deep sigh).
Next we move to the shade, so this is filmed from a little further away. There’s corn here in the nice shade. Ouch! One got spooked, jerked up, and whacked my finger. If I get impatient, they get impatient too, so: I am at peace. Hello, I’ve come to put a collar on you. I even bought collars to match everyone’s names. Please don’t step on my foot!
When my roosters do something terrible, I boot them out of the way. Kick one of these, and who knows what comes back, so I’ll pass. Another bucket, please. (I’m paying in corn, not buckets.)
Ichigo doesn’t mind having her neck touched. Her name means “strawberry,” so I chose pink for her. Her collar felt a little loose, but I know this pattern: she won’t let me put it on twice. Well, it’s on. Good enough.
Knocked flat
Ouch. I’m OK. I can’t get up. I got head-butted, by this one. The moment the corn ran out: bang! Please don’t come at me from behind where I can’t see you. It hurts, and I’ll end up breaking a leg, so I’m stopping here.
What we achieved today: everyone’s health check, treats, water (I’m bringing it now), and one collar, on Ichigo. That’s all. Any more and I’ll break an arm.
Thanks for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii! See you in the next episode.
