Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all thirty-one from August in one place — tap any of them to play it right here.
Chicks
Life is connected: Tiffany now has chicks. We came across fifteen tough little stray chicks at a store in Hawaii, and the chick we rescued in bad weather is getting bigger. Our motley crew of chicks from different places is growing up alongside Grey’s children.

The rooster corner
Rida’s voice training is paying off as he practices his cock-a-doodle-doo, and Kintaro, our little hero, has grown gentle. Sona Grey is a fluffy gentleman and a wonderful rooster. Raven has found his way to survive — the hens protect him — though he moped after Okki-chan scolded him. And a quiet, gentle rooster shows that similar faces can come with very different personalities.

Hens and eggs
So many beautiful hens: round-eyed Eri, Shiratama and Ponyo, and Luna, the classy lady of Paradise, who takes life at her own pace with Peanut Butter. Poppy and Salaryman appeared with a five-year-old lady hen, and three hens of different ages and breeds posed for a rare three-shot. I worked hard collecting eggs, though there weren’t many that day — oh well. And the egg song is one I could listen to every day.

Kittens and cats
The kittens struck their battle poses — brave or scared? Why do chickens love cat food so much? Just ask Charles, who shares with the kittens. A cats’ egg shop — I wish there were one — and a present that turned out too small for so many kittens. Natsuo looks like Natsu but is one of a kind, curious Chai popped up in the fish tank, and Fuku, once a very wild stray, now works on the farm.

Geese, ducks and neighbors
Fifi the goose follows me everywhere, has really settled in, and has a very big voice. The ducks sitting on eggs would rather nobody peeked, and the goat and sheep next door drop in every day. It’s very dry, so I need to water more for everyone, and on an outing to Kapiolani Park, Iroha was surprised by just how many pigeons there were.
