Farm Notes — January 2024: Surprise Brown Eggs, Rainy Days and a Cat Masseuse

Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all eleven from January in one place — tap any of them to play it right here.

Hens and roosters

A surprise this month: our Leghorn mix laid brown eggs, not white ones! It rained a lot, so the chickens took shelter, and a hen in the nest box let us know she was angry. Then it was red vs. white in a double round of cock-a-doodle-doos.

Little chicks

This time the cute chicks were poking out all over the place. And the tiny ones can already feed themselves!

Cats, tortoises and friends

Ao spotted a big tortoise and couldn’t stop staring. Pen-chan loves strawberries, and Natsu has grown so big. A 7-kilogram tortoise showed us he isn’t very good at eating, and to end the month, our cat masseuse got to work.
