Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all thirty-one from January in one place — tap any of them to play it right here. The flock was still living indoors this month as a bird flu precaution, but there was plenty to share.
The rooster corner
Every rooster has his own crow (turn the volume down for that one!), though they don’t spend all day shouting. Flute is our proud and trusted leader, Nishiki is a young rooster trying his best, Palolo is a wild rooster with very good manners, and Bob Marley is a beautiful, gentle soul. I thought Waikiki — who came to us from Waikiki — was a girl, but he grew into a fine rooster, and Cheese made it clear on his walk that he doesn’t like cameras. Hiyo-chan even gave us an interview about the coop, and the way the roosters look out for each other may be the secret to keeping the peace.

Our hens
Our Easter Egger sisters are all grown up, and Sugar seems to have made herself the water guard for a very well-mannered group of hens. Little Azuki slipped out through a gap in the door, Chako proved herself a smart and dependable hen, and young Orpington Tanpopo is growing fast. Brownie, one of our very first members, is still with us — stay well, Brownie — and Okki-chan, our tough fighting hen, is a big sister everyone can rely on. They’re a model of peace; the more you watch, the more you want to know about chickens.

Farm cats
The farm cats earned a good rest — thank you for all your hard work. Captain Natsu is almost too smart, the farm is full of kitten playgrounds, and Genki can’t stop wondering about the tortoise. Little Fukumaru reminded us that just being alive is something amazing. Not everything went smoothly: one cat climbed on netting that was never meant to hold a cat’s weight, the new cat food was so tasty that my hand got bitten, and nobody was interested in our big papaya.

Ducks and ducklings
One of our ducks grew up with chickens, and it shows. Mama Parsley takes a relaxed approach to parenting, but her ducklings are growing up just fine — and they’re so heartwarming I can’t stop smiling when I watch them.
From the garden
Noni is a real superfood for boosting immunity. And the bananas are huge — farm work takes some muscle!
Thanks for following along with life at Chicken Paradise. New clips go up every few days on our YouTube channel.
