Good morning from Chicken Paradise — it’s me and Happy. Cloudy today.
Happy is growing up
Remember the baby pigeon from our YouTube Shorts? That’s Happy, and Happy isn’t really a baby anymore. Look how big!
Now that adult feathers have come in, Happy has been practicing flying very hard. For some reason, Happy also trembles all over while threatening the other chickens and chicks, and goes off to pick fights with them, so I’ve been busy stopping it. You don’t need to be angry! I always thought Happy was always happy, so all this anger lately has been a bit of a surprise.
Happy is looking more and more like a real pigeon. The feet were pitch black at first and have slowly turned a reddish pink. As a baby, Happy’s beak was really thick, but now that the baby stage is over, the bump at the top of the beak is shrinking and the beak is getting slimmer. The banded pattern here is beautiful, and the tail has grown longer too.
Where did you come from?
We also have a mysterious new family member: a duckling. It wasn’t bought at a store or anything like that. One morning I came to the coop, and there it was, casually walking around in the chickens’ play area. A friend who had come to help spotted it first and said, “Oh, it hatched!” — “Huh? What did?” I looked, and there was a baby duck.
Why? Where did you come from? Just look at this little bundle of cuteness — criminally cute. It’s already completely at ease and doesn’t seem worried about a thing.
I thought about how it could have gotten there. The gaps into the play area are only big enough for something like a duckling or a small rat. So our guess is that some bigger animal caught the duckling, carried it over and dropped it, and it tumbled inside. But the truth is still a mystery. A real little mystery!
Next, we’ll think of a name for this adorable duckling. Lucky you, being found here.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise. See you next time!
