It’s 4:50 in the evening. At the gas station today I bought an enormous fizzy drink — it’s huge next to one of our little cats. I’ve already fed everyone, cleared up some trash and taken a break, and the drink is half gone. So here’s the plan: I’ll keep moving nonstop until the drink runs out, or until I do. It’s already late, so there isn’t much daylight left, but let’s try. You’ll probably watch this and think, “What is this person even doing?”
Patching the roof netting
This is bird netting — the kind used on fields to keep birds out. My silly theory was that if it can keep birds out, it can also keep them in. And it actually works! The trouble is that the cats rub and scrape against it, so it tears. That’s not really their fault; this netting is about two years old now. Hawaii doesn’t have many predators, so we don’t need to worry too much — and the cats aren’t predators here, they’re friends. This is Nero. The chickens are keeping a cautious distance.
There was a big hole over there, about a meter and a half, and another one over here, also about a meter and a half. That one is completely fixed, and this one has a meter done. There’s 50 centimeters left, but let’s pretend I didn’t see it.
My “helpers”
Fifi the goose is complaining loudly. If you want to come over, just come — but she walks so slowly. Still, she always comes up looking happy. She was raised on her own, so maybe that’s why she’s a little odd. Honestly, I never know what she’s thinking.
Natsu settled in up high, and I called her down to join us. Natsu doesn’t get angry when the chickens come close — but that doesn’t mean the other cats won’t! One of Goldie’s twin daughters has grown so big. It feels like she was tiny just the other day, but that was a few months ago, and her mother is on the small side.
Drink finished
The giant drink is gone. I didn’t get as much done as I hoped — somehow I spent ages on fiddly little jobs, and Natsu was less “helping” and more getting in the way. Still, this roof and that roof are repaired. Next time, I’ll do the other two.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii! See you next time.
