Spring Appetites and Three New Guinea Pig Brothers

Watch the episode (in Japanese)

Good morning! Hiyo-chan is getting bigger and hangs out with Tamamushi. They’re just like Heart and Star.

Breakfast time

Breakfast is here! Everyone is hungry. It seems appetites grow in spring. Here’s today’s nest box, and unusually, one spot is empty. Tsuki, make sure you eat too! Even when I fill the feeder all the way, it’s empty in no time. I give this twice a day.

Banana peels for the guinea pigs

We have five adult male guinea pigs, and I came to bring them a present of banana peels. (Not for you, chickens!) Some of them eat it and some don’t, so let’s peek. Haruhana is already nibbling. Then Pearl… no, Ruby is munching away. Shiroi is sniffing it, and Kumato ignores it completely. And over there, Pearl is eating and making a big fuss.

Three new brothers

We have three new guinea pigs! These three are brothers. At our place we’ve decided to keep only males, so following that rule, I took home all three boys. The shop had six, but the other three were girls, so I gave them up with tears.

There’s a jet-black one, a lovely mocha-brown one, and cute Mike-chan, who looks like a calico cat. At first Mike-chan was very small and seemed weak, but has perked up since coming to us. Is it tasty? Someday I’d like to build a bigger house so they can live with the big guinea pigs. For now, please grow up safe and sound.

Moving the hibiscus

To make a third playground, I moved the cran-apple hibiscus. It’s looking tired right after transplanting, so I’m looking after it. It used to be in the shade, so I think it will be better before long. And later on, the hibiscus has settled into the ground nicely. The Okinawan sweet potato is being planted over again too.

The wind is so strong that it ruffles everyone’s feathers. It’s fun to see all sorts of birds drinking water together, and the half-grown chicks seem to be having a great time.

Thanks for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii. See you soon!
