Farm Notes — August 2023: Grey, Oreo and Cho, Chicks in the Sand and a Sushi Collar

Every few days we post a short clip from the farm on YouTube. Here are all thirty-one from August in one place — tap any of them to play it right here.

Hens and roosters

August started with everyone nesting together — though none of them had any eggs. Grey, Oreo and Cho stopped by, one chicken waited patiently for the tomatoes to ripen, and a rooster was in a very good mood. We also saw ducks and chickens together, chickens plopped down on the floor, some roosters in rehab, and the coops in heavy rain.

Chick corner

Our chicks reached their second week. They went on a treasure hunt, took a sand bath, and one little chick is still figuring out how the waterer works.

Cat time

The cats spent August lounging around the farm, showing off airplane ears, and asking to be petted. I tried a collar with a sushi illustration on one cat, another nibbled an ear of grass, and a new toy arrived. A kitten was surrounded by older cats, some cats proved not very good at drinking water, and the month ended with a relaxing cat.

Guinea pigs, doves and more

A guinea pig had its house taken over by a cat, and another cat wanted very much to be friends with a guinea pig. We spotted some unusual pigeons, a red dragonfly, and a white dove sitting on eggs. Dogs and cats wagged their tails, and we learned that the brown rabbit’s tail is white. Plus a few clips that speak for themselves, including some shocking footage of… sleeping.
