Hello from Chicken Paradise Hawaii! Today I’m filming feeding time for our eight cats again. We suddenly ran out of food, and the storage bin is completely empty. Our dog Iroha has somehow decided that his best friends are cats, so things are a little chaotic.
Trying something new
Usually I buy dry food at a big warehouse store, but today they had none. So for the first time I tried the store’s own brand of wet cat food, in trays rather than cans, plus some lickable tube treats. I also stopped at a pet store chain I don’t usually visit and bought its house brand, which was said to be the cheapest and best. Iroha always eats cat food too, so he’ll surely come for a “tasting.” Let’s open it… ta-da! Very normal.
For cats, a feast means wet food, so that comes first. The pack looks as if you can pull out three flavors, salmon, turkey and chicken, but no, they’re stuck together! I’ll skip the chicken and serve turkey. The trays are aluminum and recyclable, and it smells good. Is this wet food sold in Japan? Someone please tell me!
Iroha, wait!
Meanwhile Iroha was drooling and licking the lid. Cats first! Sit! Wait! He couldn’t wait. Fine, here’s a little, and it was sucked right in. What did it taste like? He doesn’t remember. Our Iroha is a bit of a goofball. Later, though, he did manage to wait, while inching closer and closer.
Dinner is served
Four cats eat outside, so I set out four plates. Natsu came first and dug in straight from the tray. Ao, the moody one, wandered off, then came back. The ladies, Shimako among them, ate side by side. Meeko, who won’t come down, got her plate delivered; she prefers dry food and sometimes refuses wet food, but she ate today. Kanata, found here on the farm, eats separately for a few reasons, and is picky too. A former wild cat who only wants meat? I left Kanata in peace.
A dog and a cat were rolling around together again today. When Shimako wandered off, Iroha got her leftovers. “OK!” He doesn’t really know what “OK” means yet. Cats are all moody, and only Natsu licked her plate clean. The new food turned out surprisingly popular… with the dog.
Thanks for watching! See you in the next episode.
