A Rooster in “Self-Quarantine”, and Cheese’s Big Family

Watch the episode (in Japanese)

Good morning! Today’s greeting comes from Nuts, our “company president.” Nothing special happened today, but when the chickens are around, that’s enough to make me happy.

A rooster in self-quarantine

In a cage we had left open, we found a rooster who had put himself in quarantine. One of our staff thought we were keeping a newcomer apart from the others. But no: he had moved in there all on his own!

Breakfast in the little ones’ room

In the little ones’ room, it’s feeding time. Eat lots today, everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting, Glico. Lilac, help yourself. Purin and Taiyo, play nicely. Namonakimono, over here!

Reg-chan can’t find a gap to squeeze in, and Rex seems to be keeping an eye on things from up high. Iruka stands guard outside. Thank you for your hard work on lookout duty!

The egg-laying ladies

Next door is the big ones’ room, home of the egg-laying ladies. Eat well, ladies! The nest box here is as packed as ever.

“Hey Donut, why are you always angry?” “I’m busy!” Udon has something stuck on the beak that just won’t come off. There’s still a little bit there. Nanoaru was perched up high, safe and comfortable, and Shiroppy is doing well too.

Meet Cheese and family

Cheese isn’t a fan of Basil, which sounds a bit funny written down! Cheese has a big family here. Jack is his brother, and Ginny is his little sister. Sonatine is a sister too, and Hare-chan, who isn’t on camera today, is another sibling.

Kuromame isn’t a sister, but she grew up together with them. She had been put in a beer box and left on the doorstep of someone we know. Not an abandoned kitten, but an abandoned chick. Today they are all doing well.

Every time I watch the footage back, I think the same thing: we really do have a lot of roosters, don’t we?

Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii. See you in the next episode!
