Good morning! Today I’d like to bring back Sonata, the leader of the egg-laying room, who has been “on leave.” His tail has grown back quite a bit, so I think he’s ready. Come on out!
Welcome back, Sonata
Welcome home, Sonata! You’re a little dirty — that’s what happens when others poop on you from above. So, notice anything different? His tail has grown in, and he looks like he did when he was younger. Grow it a bit more, okay?
His first meal outside in a long time, and his first time with the hens in a long time. While he was put away, his spurs (the sharp claws on the back of a rooster’s legs) grew really long. I’ll have to trim them.
Sonata’s favorite hens gathered around him. To the guinea fowl, though, he’s a newcomer all over again. Usually, when a chicken has spent a while in a small room, it has to fight to win back its place in the pecking order when it comes out. But Sonata is so strong that nobody complains.
How the others took it
Jack, how about it? The leader is back. “Just when I was getting to be the leader,” he says. And you? You’re in charge indoors, so it doesn’t really matter to you — I don’t think you’ve even noticed he’s out.
Grey suddenly went from number two to number one, and has now been forced back down to number two. Grey’s eyebrows almost look worried.
Meet Sonata
Sonata’s tail is beautiful! It used to be a grayish color, but now it’s a proper chicken tail. It makes him look even bigger — a bit scary. He’s practically the size of a duck. (Ao, that’s the chickens’ food!)
While Sonata was away, the egg-laying hens stayed squeezed into a narrow corner — his corner, it turns out. When he came out, they all came out too. Were you waiting for him? Maybe if I had carried his whole cage outside, they would all have come out. Anyway, it’s nice. “Even with lots of wives, there’s happiness,” they say.
Ao meets the little ones
Marron has been practicing cock-a-doodle-doo, but no voice yet. Marron, that’s a cat. His name is Ao. Are you listening? I brought Ao over to introduce him to the little ones, and they all came to look. The nameless black chicken stepped right up to the front. See? This creature is safe. Go ahead, give him a peck! These chickens weren’t bothered by the cat at all.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise! See you next time.
