Sowing Grain in the Playground — and a Chick in the Duck House

Watch the episode (in Japanese)

Good morning from Chicken Paradise Hawaii. Another blue sky today.

Opening every door

Good morning! Ah, it won’t open. There we go. Time for the ducklings — Ai-chan, move over! Then the chicks, and the chicks in the other room too. You can come out! Whoa — sorry, sorry. Another group of chicks was scared to go outside. Come on, your friends are out here — someone you know.

Here’s Niji. She’s doing fine, though she looks a little spaced out.

Parsley and the duckling with the bad leg

And here’s Parsley, getting bigger and bigger, together with the duckling whose leg was bad. Her leg is still a little weak. That’s garbage — we don’t eat garbage!

Parsley, you’re so big, and you have wings now. Those tiny wings — let’s see if Parsley will show us. All of this is pin feathers, the new feathers growing in. That’s good! Off you go.

The duckling with the curled right foot was reunited with her siblings. What are you threatening? That’s your brother! Well, hang in there. She does her rehab in the pool with everyone.

Surprise in the duck house

One day, a chick was inside the duck house. When the duck came home, the chick panicked — even though the exit was on the other side. The duck just looked at it as if to say, “What’s wrong?” Then the chick ran off like a cartoon. That was a surprise!

A grain crop for the chickens

I decided to sow grain for the chickens. This grain has soaked in water for a day. I’m planting it directly inside the playground, after soaking it a little longer, and I’ll protect it with netting until it grows.

As soon as I started sowing, everyone got fidgety, thinking it was a snack. If you wait a few days, there’ll be much more of it! But I know — you want to eat it now. I watered it every day and waited. Five days later, it sprouted! A little more, and when it’s big enough, it’s a grain party!

Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii! See you in the next video.
