Today the gusts were so strong that a roof was about to blow off, so I went up to reinforce it, even though I’m afraid of heights. Every now and then a really fierce gust blows through.
Bracing for the wind
As you can see, the playground looks even worse than last time. Strong winds weren’t in the forecast, but a storm swept across the Hawaiian Islands about twice. It was still windy, and leaving things as they were wasn’t safe, so I reinforced the parts that hadn’t been fixed in place, adding a frame to hold everything firmly. Now it doesn’t flap around anymore.
The sheep’s tent was broken by the wind, too. A contractor is coming to repair it.
Moving day for the sheep
The sheep had eaten all of their grass, so today they moved to the lot next door. Our neighbor brought corn, and I brought some vegetables we grew at home. (I was chatting away in English and forgot to speak Japanese for the camera for a while!) The vegetables? No, not those. Corn, please. One at a time!
We sprayed them with insect repellent made only of essential oils, no chemicals, and a little of it ended up on me. It turns out Blueberry has a favorite person: she lets him pet her and even headbutts his hands. Maybe they knew each other in a past life.
With both hands full, things got a bit scary. “Don’t step on my feet!” “I only have greens! I’m invisible!” To be honest, I was getting headbutted out of stress. But out in the new place there’s grass everywhere, which should keep them going for a while. They’re eating like crazy. Good for you!
Three sheep, three personalities
Now that the sheep are right beside us, we lured them over with food, and we’ll get to see their faces again. Blueberry runs away when you get close, and Strawberry is a scaredy-cat too. Watermelon is the bold one, with a pure white face and a cream-colored body. He’s a male, so he headbutts, which is a little scary.
Everyone made it out safely. Their keeper is under attack, and it’s ridiculously windy, so the footage turned out pretty funny. Enjoy your grass, everyone!
Thanks for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii. See you next time!
