Blueberries!
The blueberries have finally turned blue! So delicious. Look — there’s fruit all the way down. For ages there was lots of fruit, but it just wouldn’t change color. I kept complaining and eating sour blueberries anyway. And now, at last, they’re blue! I want to eat them all right now.
Good morning! Good morning over here, too.
A bargain sprinkler
What’s running here is a sprinkler head I found for 750 yen at a home improvement store. Wow, that’s a lot of water! It’s been ridiculously hot — close to 40°C — so I went to the store thinking I’d spray some water over the chickens’ playground. When I found this cheap one I worried it might be flimsy, but it sprays a really wide area, shooting water up to about 5 meters high. The ducks are overjoyed. It’s cooled off, just a little. Here comes the water! Looks like fun.
Dal broke up a fight. Nice work, Dal.
Meet Jason
This is Jason, a fighting rooster I picked up quite a while ago after he was abandoned. He was picked up on Friday the 13th, so I named him Jason in honor of the date.
He’s lived in a private room for a long time, and he can’t see very well, so his face is, well, thoroughly dirty. I think he was rejected as a fighting bird because of his eyesight, and then dumped. He eats an enormous amount but somehow never gains weight, and with his poor eyesight too, I wonder if he has some kind of genetic problem. He bumps into walls easily, so he’s kept in a smallish room, and his tail got bent. Sorry, Jason. He’s a tough one, though — he was crowing cock-a-doodle-doo from his very first day.
Look at this beautiful form (a little dirty). For the first time in ages, I’m taking him for a walk. He thinks he’s drinking water, but he’s eating food. And — that’s a duck, let’s not! As a fighting bird, he goes after anything that moves, which is scary. Now let’s trim his feathers and clean him up a little.
Thank you for watching Chicken Paradise Hawaii! See you next time.
